Cellular phones are everywhere; in
malls, the bus and the coffee shop across the street.
Regrettably we also see a lot of people use their cellphones inside the
church, movie theaters, meetings and seminars. I was at the movie theater trying
to have a nice weekend when suddenly we were bothered by this phone ring.
The guy in front of me picked it up and started talking on the phone.
It wasn’t a big deal for me because I thought maybe it’s an
emergency. But his phone rang yet
again; he answered it for the second time. Now I’m started to get irritated, I
wanted to shout at the man and tell him to get out of the theater if he
continues what he is doing, fortunately I didn’t have to because his wife did
it for me.
Another rising problem we are facing
is the use of cellphones while driving. People
say using a hands free cell phone is safer, but experts say NO.
I had this experience while driving in our village when suddenly I caught
up in this long traffic. Apparently
it was a lady driving with the wheel on one hand and her flashy cell phone on
the other that was causing the traffic. That
just shows how dangerous and negligent we can be by the improper use of our
cellular phones.
The use of cell phones must follow a set of rules or
guidelines. I came up with these
rules:
Rule 1: Turn off your phone. Before entering meetings, cinemas, theaters, concerts or any
public performance please, please switch off your phone.
You can divert your calls to other colleagues or friends.
Rule 2: Never use
your cell phone to look significant. Don’t
use your phone to boost your ego or as a status symbol, it won’t work.
Rule 3: Turn the
ringer off completely when entering hospitals or such.
Rule 4: Be
considerate to others. When using
your phone in a public place, don’t allow your self to irritate the people
around you. When your phone rings,
get up and go outside or anywhere you know you wouldn’t annoy people.
Courtesy and common sense are the keys
to cell phone etiquette. Never
again let your selves get out of hand when using your cell phone.
